ドイツに生まれ、現在はニュージーランドを拠点に制作活動を行なうジュエリー作家、カール・フリッチ。貴金属や宝石を惜しみなく使いながら、ワックスを手でこねて、あえて指紋も残したまま原型を取るなど、宝飾の常識を逸脱した制作手法によって、非常にユニークかつラグジュアリーなジュエリーを作っています。長年、リングにこだわって制作しているのも特徴。そのどれもが一点ものです。メトロポリタン美術館やヴィクトリア＆アルバート博物館をはじめ、多くのパブリックコレクションに作品が収蔵されており、2024年にはロエベ財団主催によるクラフトプライズのファイナリストにも選出されましたが、型に嵌ることのない発表活動を続けているのも大きな魅力です。
